LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM

Employers and graduate schools are increasingly recruiting candidates who demonstrate skills in areas not often associated with academics. They want to know whether prospects can communicate well with others, are engaged in the world around them, and capable of adapting to changes. Often referred to as life skills, these capabilities help determine whether you achieve your life goals, including your career objectives.

Life Skills include such things as:

Intellectual & Professional Competence Ethics & Integrity
Interpersonal Skills  Responsibility, Citizenship & Involvement
Communication Skills Artistic & Cultural Appreciation
Adaptability Multicultural Awareness & Appreciation
Leadership Self-knowledge & Self-management
Life-Long Learning Professional Etiquette & Career Skills

The Life Skills Program at Lyon College is conducted by the Student Life Component and
coordinated by the Career Development Center. Through specific workshops and other campus activities, students are encouraged to develop these non-academic success skills. You will be receiving more information about these events, but we also invite you to visit the Career Center website at http://career.lyon.edu for details on upcoming activities. We look forward to meeting you!
